How to Block Unwanted and Unsolicited Messages With MTN Do Not Disturb Services: How To Activate Or Deactivate MTN DND.
Block unwanted and unsolicited messages is made easy! Effective from July 1, 2016, Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC mandated all telecom operators to activate an sms filtering gateway known as DO NOT DISTURB. The DO NOT DISTURB (DND) facility was designed to help all telecom subscribers stop unwanted and solicited messages from hitting their lines and as well give them freedom of deciding what messages to receive from their various network providers.
If you are still being regularly disturbed with several unsolicited spam text messages and calls, there is a way out.
MTN DND, also known as MTN Do Not Disturb allows MTN customers to opt out of receiving promotional and marketing text messages from third party services like Bulk SMS, OTPs, VAS promos, etc. However, this does NOT include promotional messages directly from MTN self.
The MTN DND service features two blocking modes:
Full Blocking Mode
Allows subscribers to Opt Out totally from receiving promotional messages via SMS and IVR.
Partial Blocking Mode
Allows subscribers to filter service categories for promotional messages they wish to receive. Any category not selected is blocked.

The Do Not Disturb feature would ordinarily have been a very good feature to help subscribers block irrelevant and unsolicited SMS messages mostly emanating from the telecom companies and other third party marketing providers. However, the telecoms operators have smartly exempted themselves from this Do-Not-Disturb (DND) bulk SMS and call filtering.
